I may have posted this already, but it's a nice enough shot to show it again. This is crewmen on SC 93 raising the wherry. It gives us a good view of the wherry itself, with the chaser hull number on the transom and a rope bumper.
This is at Corfu, Greece, at Base 25. In the rear to the right is USS Leonidas, which served as mothership to the chasers at Base 25. The location is the cove at Fustipidima Point, on the eastern side of the island.
The image is undated, but it appears to be a holiday or celebration, given the flags display.
As the winter moves along slowly where I am, those summer Mediterranean waters look pretty good, even in black-and-white.
On a separate note, you might have seen some links in the "Recently added" list on the website home page to some documents from my ancestors. No relation to the history of U.S submarine chasers except that there are some docs and newspaper articles in there on George S. Dole, who was CO of SC 93. Just a parking space for some work I'm doing to scan and transcribe old family papers.
