A short issue this month, but there are a couple of interesting items, and more to come when time allows.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday season, and look forward to continuing to highlight new items in The Subchaser Archives Notes in 2011.
Merry Christmas,
--Todd Woofenden, Editor.
Jim Bradley recently submitted a photo of a ship's bell, engraved for subchaser SC 123. The mounting arrangement for the bell is different than the mounting shown in familiar photos of a chaser's bell above the pilot house door -- but there are so many fine detail difference among chasers that it's not surprising.
Jim has donated the bell to the Navy Museum in DC. Let's hope they choose to display it!
Recently added to the Crew Photos collection is an image showing the officers and crew of SC 113.
The print itself is in rough shape, but nonetheless the detail is excellent. In the detail images many of the cap tallies are shown clearly enough to make out the designations.
