Vol. 13 No. 1, January 2017

Almost one hundred years ago, the U.S. entered the Great War, and the 110' submarine chaser fleet was built for the purpose of mounting an offensive against the enemy U-boat threat.

It has been a fascinating and rewarding undertaking to build and manage this website, devoted to the U.S. submarine chasers of WWI. My thanks again to everyone who has contributed photos, stories and information to The Subchaser Archives.

Happy New Year, and please keep the materials coming!

--Todd Woofenden, editor.

Added This Month:

Gerald Bowen submitted this photo set showing his SC 23 model. This is based on the Dumas kit. It was kind of Mr. Bowen to note in his remarks to me that he found this website useful in filling the details, as the kit is fairly "bare-bones."

For anyone else working on a chaser model, be sure to visit the Close Aboard section for close-up detail photos, and feel free to send questions. Also see the Kits section, for notes on some specific chaser model kits. Photos of your model project would make a welcome addition to the site.
