An example of the wooden Ideal kit, this model showing SC 86 was built by Paul Veeder sometime around 1946. It needs a little work to replace the antenna lines and a couple of other lines, but overall it's still in good shape.
As with all the kits, there are some things I would quibble over, such as: I doubt "AV" appeared on this chaser. The only confirmed example of the "AV" mark is on SC 262. Extra depth charges weren't stored in racks on deck. Maybe someone tried that early on, but I think they would have deemed it a Bad Idea. There were three screws, not one. I don't see a pelorus on the pilot house ... and so on. But overall a nice model.
See this page for details on the kit. And thanks to Paul Veeder for the donation to The Subchaser Archives.
