SC 40: Thompson Collection

Photos from a collection of photos from Ellis J. Thompson, who served on SC 40, including a rare below-decks shot. Thanks to his son, Donald R. Thompson, for submitting the photo set to The Subchaser Archives.

SC 40 was assigned to Base 27 (Plymouth), and after the war participated in the clearing of the North Sea minefields. This was one of the chasers sent on an exhibition tour after the Armistice, when the U.S. was looking to sell the boats overseas.
