SC 242 model

54" model by unknown maker, depicting submarine chaser SC 242. Thanks to Richard Adams for submitting the photos to The Subchaser Archives.

SC 242 was built at Morris Heights (New York Yacht, Launch & Engine), and was commissioned at Boston on 16 March, 1918. This chaser served along the New England coast, including to ports at Boston; Rockland, Maine; and Provincetown. After the war, SC 242 was decommissioned and turned over the Coast Guard.

Provenance of this model is unclear, but this piece might have been displayed at New York Yacht, Launch & Engine.
