SC 47 was commissioned at New York on 27 March 1918, and was among the chasers that served at Plymouth, England and Queenstown, Ireland. After the war, SC 47 was assigned to the North Sea Minesweeping Force, and participated in the removal of the North Sea Mine Barrage.
