A model restoration project, work by Christopher Olson:
"I got this model about 5 years ago at the used section of a hobby shop.
"I live in MN and was researching a vessel that was part of the MN Naval Reserve and during that research I found that two subchasers (SC-412 & SC- 342) were part of that reserve for a time. So I decided to obtain a model of one.
"This derelict model sat in a drawer for about two years until I decided to make it my next project. I stumbled across your website and found the Enhancing the Glencoe model section very helplful, and I followed most of its instructions. I also added a few items like the storage bins by the deck gun. I couldn't add any interior detail to the pilot house since it was already assembled."
On the bridge wing detail, Christopher notes, "To make the bridge wings look like they're canvas covered, I glued two horizontal threads to represent railings and used white glue to 'soften' the look so it appears as canvas pressing against the railings." Christopher also notes, "the aft mast is a toothpick. I used it because it was slightly tapered at one end."
