Henry F. Tegler Collection

Crewman Henry "Harry" Tegler was a new-to-the-field radio electrician when he was assigned to submarine chaser SC 125 in the summer of 1918, serving in the Otranto barrage.

Tegler's primary role was ship-to-ship communication, operating the radio telegraph and telephone equipment to recieve and transmit reports of the bearings of detected submarines during hunts and regular communications.

This photograph shows SC 125 in drydock in Malta in January 1919. The chasers were placed in drydock multiple times during their WWI service, for the purpose of caulking seams and general repairs.
