Henry Sutphen of Elco describes the construction of submarine chasers in this article published in The Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc., Transactions, Part II, 1917. It pertains to the Elco-built motor launch boats, but since the 110' chasers were equipped with the same type of engines (two each in the MLs, three each in the 110' chasers), the discussion is pertinent to both classes of vessels.
Note also that Elco would later participate in the construction of 110' chasers. SC 93, Lt. Dole's command, was one of the Elco-built boats.
