This is probably a post-war photograph, during minesweeping operations. Note that the deck gun, Y-gun and bearing indicator are not in place. During mine sweeping operations, crewmen used hand-held rifles to shoot at mines that floated to the surface. The deck gun inefficient for this purpose, and the ASW devices were not needed.
