Submarine chaser SC 62 was built at the New Yorl Naval Shipyard and was commissioned on 11 May 1918 at New York. This chaser was assigned to the Second and Third Naval Districts, and late in the war was assigned to overseas duty, arriving the Azores the day after the Armistice was signed. SC 62 made the return journey, and arrived at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, on 17 January 1919.
