USS Northern PacificOn 1 January 1919, the troop ship USS Northern Pacific grounded near Fire Island, while approaching New York. Among the vessels that came to the aid of Northern Pacific during the following days were several submarine chasers. These small craft had the advantage of shallow draft, which allowed them to sail up close to the grounded ship and take on pasengers. This set consists of view of the chasers' role in the Northern Pacific incident, gathered from several different collections.
